From the Mouths of Babes…
…or in this case senior citizens.
Don’t get me wrong here, or read anything into this post other that the reality that I always appreciate a clever turn of phrase.
Please note that this was sent to my wife by a member of her knitting club — a gaggle of seventy-year-old grandmas; just trying to get through life on social security and memories of what was (and dreams of what still could be).

Pretty much describes both political parties and the billionaire class that buys them, though GOP specializes in some of items. They take the cake with the false-emergency-followed-by-false-sense-of-security-utilizing-military-as-props thing, or the emergency-requiring-emergency-powers thing, as we all get lubed, inflated, and penetrated.
Yep, and if this had been directed at the donkeys I would have also been impressed.
Funny, I got this from a republican friend only it was about dems and was around the time when inflation was close to 9% under Biden. Being an independent I’m not bothered by. either comment. That being said, the headlines are starting to get frightening, don’t know if we have ever had a previous president that thinks the feds should take over policing not just WA DC but other major cities, and don’t think we have ever had a previous president that was publicly telling CEO”s of major companies what to do, not to mention the horrific weaponizing of our dept. of justice. We as a nation have survived some pretty poor presidents and hopefully we’ll survive this one too. I’m hoping that people from all parties will turn either the house or senate democrat as having both l house and senate from same party as president has in my humble opinion never been a good idea.
Yeah, all you have to do is change the first line, and elephant to donkey, and it still fits. To paraphrase a long-held sentiment: You can prove anything with the proper spin.
Also, I think that “checks and balance” may be one of the things the writers of the constitution had in mind when they set up the three co-equal branches of government.
Unfortunately, the three branches of government have never been co-equal. They have been separate in terms of org chart and powers, but not co-equal. The executive’s being in charge of military, federal law enforcement, federal regulation, tax collection, homeland security, diplomacy, and pardon power makes it the 500 pound gorilla – especially with the guy in charge now. And especially with the other two branches giving him carte blanche. The current relationship with congress is bend-over-and-take-it (condom or not) while the lifetime supreme court with erectile dysfunction looks on and smiles.
…and yet they are supposed to be, as designed by the Founders.
